Questions Patients Ask Us

01Do you take my insurance?

We send claims to PPO and indemnity dental plans for you. Whether we are in network is set by your plan's contract, so we look it up and tell you before you book. DHMO plans work differently, so call us and we will explain.

02What if I don't have insurance?

You pay the fee for your treatment, and your dentist writes that fee down before any work begins. Financing is offered by third-party lenders. Approval and terms are set by the lender.

03Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

Coverage depends on the plan and the dentist, so call us and we will tell you plainly before you book.

04Will it hurt?

We numb the area before we treat it, and you can ask for a break at any time by raising your hand. Everyone feels things differently, so tell us if anything bothers you.

05How often will I need X-rays and a cleaning?

Your dentist decides, based on your teeth, your gums and your history. They tell you why, and how often, and you can ask for it in writing.

06What is a deep cleaning?

A cleaning below the gumline, which your dentist may suggest when an exam shows gum disease. They show you what they found and explain the options before anything is scheduled.

07Do you see children?

Yes. Our dentists see children as well as adults. Call us to ask whether your child's age and needs suit our office; we refer to a pediatric dentist when that would suit them better.

08What counts as a dental emergency?

If you have trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling that is spreading to your face or neck, or bleeding that won't stop, call 911 first. For a broken tooth, a knocked-out tooth or a toothache that can't wait, call us and we will tell you whether we can see you that day.

09Do you offer sedation?

We treat with local numbing. If you would like sedation, we refer you to a dentist who offers it and explain the reasons before you go.

10Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. After your exam your dentist writes out the treatment, the visits it needs and what it will cost. We give a written estimate in advance to anyone paying without insurance, and to anyone who asks.

11Where do I fill in my forms?

Health history and consent forms are in the practice's own secure portal, not on this website. Paper forms are available at the front desk.

12How do I cancel or change a visit?

Call us at least 24 hours before your visit and we will find another time. Late changes may be subject to a fee, which we explain when you book.
